Moved stealth a to the top of c tier due to continuous user feedback on the placement of the ship. Starting weapons can only be found aboard the ship that has them i include crystal weapons because getting to the crystal sector to buy them is an extremely rare and difficult.

Ftl ship tier list ae. Heres my current ae tier 1. These ships come in a variety of layouts and can be equipped with various systems and subsystems weapons drones and augmentations. Even though this ship went down on my tier list i think it got a bit better in ae. So ftls been out for a while and i figure weve all had enough time to let our opinions of the different ships settle and i thought itd be fun to rank them. Im glad i was able to push out a second tier list thanks to plenty of reader feedback. Yes i know im years late but i only really got into ftl a year ago and i finally feel ive played it enough to create my own weapon tiers.
Everything below is obsolete with ae. The purpose of a tier list is not to discuss what could potentially happen but rather to evaluate relative strength in a vacuum. Ship strengths feel a lot closer in general with ae boarding got some big nerfs but 4 mana teleporters are still insane. Halberd beam and leto is an awful awful starting arsenal good for sector 1 2 if youre lucky. Engi bs downside is the entire ship not merely the crew which is worse than any other ship in the game. My current tier list. Carnelian the shrike the basilisk the theseus red tail the torus tetragon still has plenty of room to move around. And as with so many other ships hacking is a good substitute for good.
The one exception in amazing tier would be the pike beam and thats because its fairly easy to get something to break through shields and the trade off is immense. Slug b mantis c stealth a. If this tier list were based on my experiences the zoltan a would be lower than the slug b. Your best move with the ship is still to sell most of your starting junk and buy a decent weapon but now shops carry more stuff so you should be able to do that more consistently. Every ship in ftl can become strong eventually with the right weapons and upgrades just as every civilization can become powerful in the civ games and every champion can dominate in league of legends with enough gold. Since ftl is a game of rng you want to minimize any variance as much as possible.
